ECED reacts to BOLKESTEIN DIRECTIVE

The Proposal from the European Commission on the Liberalisation of the Internal Market for Services, named "Bolkestein Directive" because of the name of the Dutch ex-commissioner responsible for it, is still subject of a lot of discussion.

The Directive remains stuck in the legislative process between the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers, and recently the Commission has announced it is willing to review some of the wording, and take into account the concerns of national authorities, trade unions and trade federations.

Therefore, ECED thinks the time is right to make its own position known to the EU community.
