ECED was invited to attend LEASEUROPE’s European Yellow Goods Leasing Expert Panel Meeting.

ECED’s Secretary General, Tom Antonissen participated in the Expert Panel on Yellow Goods organized by Leaseurope in Brussels upon direct invitation by their Director General, Tanguy van de Werve. The objective of the Expert Panel Meeting was to examine the opportunities and challenges faced by finance companies (and financial service providers from the manufacturers) in the yellow goods sector (with a focus on construction equipment) across Europe.

After a brief overview of the yellow goods market, the trends in the construction equipment sector were discussed, next to challenges impacting the European market. Also potential implications for equipment funding were considered, including remarketing, availability and sources of funding for lessors, end-customer and dealer/distributor credit risk.

A next session focused on the opportunities for yellow good’s leasing in Europe. At the centre of the discussion were topics such as

  • New funding models
  • A possible improvement of Vendor programmes
  • Lending new and used equipment
  • Catering to customer needs
  • Tailored finance product development
  • Non-interest income opportunities
  • Fleet management
